Textiles

Textiles are one of the elements in a space that leave a lasting impression on me. I am a very tactile person who LOVES to touch everything! I like to think that if a room were an outfit you are putting together, the textiles are the accessories pieces. They can accurately translate the mood of the space and add contrast. Below are some textiles I have found that I really enjoy...

Cotton is one of the most well known textiles (thanks to slavery and their commercials).

Artist Angela Wright – known for her architectural-scale installations in both public and private locations – installs a massive hank of wool weighing 51kg (103lb) and measuring 189 miles, in the 18th century church All Hallows on the Wall in the City of London, in the run-up to Easter.

189 MILES: Wool Installation represents both an obstacle and a portal, which hangs as two cascading skeins parted like a doorway and spilling out across the floor in the nave of All Hallows. Visitors will be able to stand close and walk inside the piece, touch and feel its enclosing warmth.

Angela Wright says, "Visiting the site I was struck by the ceiling's creamy softness and flower-like patterns. I imagined a work that would connect these characteristics with the floor and 'pour' them over it.
