Group Project Part III: Study Model

We created a study model to help us visualize how our ideas will materialize. It was made at 1/2 scale.

This sketch was done marvelously by Sara and it was to translate the idea of our space. We wanted this metal/mesh curtain/tent to cover and define our space. There would be a wall of dancing light on the same side as the booth system. We wanted to create this dim, sultry vibe as you walk thru our hallway. The images on the screen would spark your curiosity and lead you into the booths to take a closer peek at the magazine. Everything is meant to be a tease, like a Peep Show. The images give you a taste of what is inside the booth, the booth gives you a taste of whats inside the magazine, and then you can purchase the magazine to see the rest.

aerial shot of the space. The light on the right side is just simulating the effect we want the light wall to have. In our final model we will not have a huge light sitting behind it. This is just a study model so we are still working out the logistics.

The silver foil on the floor will be a decal that draws the eye from one wall to the other and leads passerbyers into the booths.

Our final models will consist of a 1/8 inch scale model of the entire space, a model of the booth area at 1 inch= 1 foot scale, and a model of our kiosk booth at 3 inches= 1 foot scale. We have some kinks to work out. We are struggling to find a metal material for the curtain. I found some stuff at home depot but we are unsure if it will accurately translate our idea. Essentially we want a metal fabric that would drape like a tent or curtain.  Below are my findings at Home Depot...

it's so difficult to start over the way your group did...kudos to you for doing that.

i've seen you grow and develop so much as a designer in such a short amount of time - you should be really proud of yourself! terrific work / process...keep at it! look forward to your work in the upcoming semesters.
